“ Hoi Dianne, Anna en Lea, Ik heb laatst Dianne gesproken over schilderen van kunst op mijn achterdeur van de praktijk (binnenzijde). Zij heeft mij gezegd dat ik het beste mij kan aanmelden. Dus bij deze! Ik zie even niet hoe ik hier een foto kan uploaden van de achterdeur. Ik zal ook even contact opnemen met Gerda van de Alliantie of het mag van de woningbouwvereniging. ”

artches: getting started

It feels like yesterday: the first sight of the bridge’s gorgeous pillars, the first nervous phone call to NS offices, the first trembling meeting at OGA, the first public appearance at Bedrijven Congress, the first architectural drawings at Urban Symbiose, the first painting by StinkFish at NDSM, the first public painting by Btoy at HMC, the first full of anticipation meeting at ProRail.

Almost 3 years has passed in waiting and filling in paperwork, working out details and answering 1,001 questions.  Waiting for what?

PRORAIL VERGUNNING!

THIS MEANS A LOT!

This means that 3 years of our hard work, perseverance and determination, as well as A LOT OF faith, have paid off.  We have a permission for 3 YEARS to display 12 paintings on the luxurious pillars of Sloterdijk Bridge.

We can change the paintings every year or we can keep the favourites.  We can expand the number of pillars. We can reach to ReedElsevier. We can cross the road to Tales of the Nine, Nieuw-West Amsterdam (!)

The potential of the project, now that we have this UNIQUE VERGUNNING, is unlimited.

We are very proud, excited and grateful to all those who helped us to get here.

HangOut - Street Debate!

Slotermeer, New West, Amsterdam

The street where we painted was chosen to host the third of eight series of events where the local Youth challenges various social and political issues.

This time, they will be asking “where do donations go?” to Unicef, Green Peace and Isamic Relief.

The event was brought to the Tante Ali Buurhuis by Stichting Combeat, EEN, KidZArt and Artches for Youth.

“Er zijn geweldige suggesties voor innovatie in dit gebied. Wat mij betreft zijn die allemaal prima. Maar laten we het vooral niet bij een verkoopstrategie houden: het moet levend zijn, het moet gevoeld zijn, je moet er smoel aan kunnen geven!”

Doe Mee en Geef Westpoort Smoel! - BTOY Andrea @ HMC (hout- en meubileringscollege amsterdam)

Thanks to amazing team at HMCollege we managed to start the first painting on time and without glitches: from wood panel to projector to lovely healthy food to welcoming personnel to curious students.  It has even snowed today for the first time!

The 1st SMOEL with the blessing of OGA, HMC, ORAM and a Snow Queen is Officially ON!

“ Painting seems to be the sauce for all that sprouts from the human mind:
Painting is the wag in this world’s foolish face:
Painting bred from the dalliances of the fickle brain,
Is an ever-flowing fountain for the foolish desire of the eye,
Painting, related to disguising, fits the world. And why?
The farcical proverb will tell us: All the world is a mask. ”
